The alleged "Court Diary" was first publicly distributed by Paulette via the Avcompats mailing list. What follows is her ensuing correspondence with Savitra.

After reading Paulette's "Court Diary / Information Release", I forwarded the material to Peter Heehs, asking him to confirm its veracity. Peter, after all, was present at this hearing and has direct knowledge of this entire process. Peter's reply to me expressed complete shock at the falsehoods and inaccuracy of this report.

Yes, there was a legal action initiated by Surekha Jain (Petitioner) in the Chennai High Court to cancel Peter's visa and deport him from India. And, yes, the Petitioner filed the Petition against the 4 respondents listed. But most of the "information" that followed was either false, distorted, misinterpreted or outright fabrication.

In this light, Paulette, would you please reveal the source of your "Court Diary / Information Release"? You give the impression that it was some official Court Info release. But that is not the case. Were you the source and are these simply your "diary" notes? When one publicly presents such "information", it is essential to reveal the source.

P.S. - One piece of revealing background information to this ongoing Travesty of Justice: The Petitioner Surekha Jain who instigated this deportation proceeding against Peter Heehs in Chennai is the mother of Gitanjali Bhattacharjee (the wife of Sraddhalu Ranade's best friend Jayant Bhattacharjee) who was the petitioner/complainant in the Orissa Court Cases instigated against Peter. This is the continuation of an outrageous ideological campaign against Peter Heehs and his book, misusing the Indian Courts and Indian Visa authorities to harass, persecute, excommunicate and deport him as a "heretic". In the light of AV's recent Conference on "Spirituality Beyond Religions", I find this a glaring contradiction.

Savitra,

I am forwarding your email to RYD Deshpande, who has sent me the first email without any comment, and which I have reproduced as it is, for general information. I don’t know anything about this new court case; if the information I have received is wrong, can you be more specific?

What is the position of Manoj and the Trustees?

Paulette, I am sitting on the opposite side of the world. I am not the appropriate source to answer your questions about the position of the Ashram Trustees in this matter. for the same reasons, I am not the person to respond to specifics about the mis-information being passed off in this purported "Information Release". It is the responsibility of those who released this so-called "information" to verify their "diary" account.

Thank you for indicating the source of your posting as RYD Deshpande. I would be interested to know whether this was his own written diary of events or whether he too was just a go-between for someone else passing him the material. Doesn't anyone believe in confirming whether the material they are posting for others is true and reliable? How can you post something on the AV Compat list without first checking if it is based on fact or fiction? and without first checking who is the original source? Where is our standard of integrity or even of maintaining basic journalistic ethics? And what, I wonder, is the motive behind this attempt to deceive?

Savitra,

I have forwarded your email to Deshpande. However, I expected that you would point out why you have been told that it is wrong.

Personally I have walked out from the controversy feeling hopeless in every sense. I have posted the report without comments, as I have received it, without comments. But this too is getting distorted, like usually. The alternative is not to post anything at all.

Paulette, it is always better not to post something publicly unless you have researched its source and know it is true and authentic. Otherwise you are simply letting yourself become a conduit and instrument for rumor, confusion, distortion or deception. I know you were not motivated by bad will when you posted this; but I cannot say the same for those who anonymously fabricated this deceit and sent it to you (perhaps with the hope that you would broadcast it for them).

In future, when some un-named "reporter" says something like "Peter Heehs came [to the Chennai High Court] with a group of 25 Westerners", that kind of inflammatory language should give you a clue that this is not a clean unbiased or trustworthy report. Nor is it the truth. For Peter came alone.

If Peter actually came alone, then why do you think this exaggerated lie was intentionally inserted? What do you think the "reporter" or ghost writers were trying to incite by making the false reference to Peter being accompanied by "a group of 25 Westerners"? My instinct tells me it is to give the impression that Peter is a "foreigner" supported by a gang of "foreigners". It is a very devious, divisive but subtle form of prejudicing the reader. For most people reading it, it would not even enter their conscious mind, but underneath it plants a very negative and destructive seed.

FYI, Peter did not prompt me to write this. I take personal responsibility for singling out this example among the many other lies woven into the fabric of this "information report". I do this because I feel it is crucial to unmask the conspiracy and cleverness behind the apparent innocence of the "information" contained in this so-called "Court Diary".

Paulette,

This is a ridiculous reply which effectively avoids the issue. My question to RY Despande is very simple: Did he write this himself? If not, who did? Who sent it to him? Why did he pass it on to you? And why did he not verify the accuracy and truthfulness of the report before sending it on for public posting? If you do not want to continue being in the middle of this exchange, why not pass me his email address and I will ask him directly.

Thanks,

~Savitra
